Singapore Airlines is preparing to launch a new five-times-weekly service connecting Singapore with Madrid via Barcelona, expanding its European network ahead of the 2026–2027 winter travel season.
The new service is scheduled to begin on October 26, 2026, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. It will make Madrid the airline's second destination in Spain and its 15th destination in Europe, according to the carrier's announcement.
How the New Singapore–Madrid Route Will Operate
Singapore Airlines will restructure its existing Singapore–Barcelona service to continue onward to Madrid. The route will operate as Singapore–Barcelona–Madrid on the outbound journey, with the return service travelling from Madrid through Barcelona to Singapore.
The airline plans to operate the route five times per week during the winter schedule, which runs from October 26, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
The flights will use the Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft, configured with 253 seats:
- 42 seats in Business Class
- 24 seats in Premium Economy Class
- 187 seats in Economy Class
The inaugural Singapore–Barcelona–Madrid flight, SQ388, is scheduled to depart Singapore late on October 26 and arrive in Madrid on the morning of October 27. The return service, SQ387, is scheduled to depart Madrid on October 27.
More Options for Travellers Between Asia and Spain
The new service gives passengers travelling from Singapore and other parts of Asia another option for reaching the Spanish capital. Connecting passengers may also benefit from Singapore Airlines' wider network through its Singapore hub.
Madrid is an important destination for tourism, business and cultural travel. The new connection is expected to provide additional choice for travellers visiting Spain, while Barcelona remains an important stop on the route.
The service also reflects Singapore Airlines' strategy of increasing capacity on selected European routes in response to demand. The carrier has announced additional services to destinations including London Gatwick, Milan and Munich for the 2026–2027 winter season.
What Passengers Should Know Before Booking
Passengers should check the full itinerary carefully when booking, as the new service includes a stop in Barcelona. Travellers should also confirm flight times, operating days and connection details directly with Singapore Airlines.
The published schedule is subject to regulatory approval and operational changes. Travellers should verify the latest information before making non-refundable hotel or onward travel arrangements.
