Singapore Airlines Unveils Next-Generation KrisWorld and Faster In-Flight Wi-Fi

Published: October 23, 2026

Singapore Airlines has announced a major upgrade to its in-flight entertainment platform, KrisWorld, alongside plans to introduce high-speed connectivity on selected aircraft from 2027.

The new system is designed to give passengers more control over their entertainment, improve audio and screen quality, and make it easier to stay connected during long-haul journeys.

The airline announced the changes on October 22, describing them as part of a broader effort to improve the customer experience both in the air and on the ground.

What Is New in KrisWorld?

The next-generation KrisWorld system will introduce a redesigned interface and a range of entertainment features. These include:

  • 4K touchscreen displays: High-resolution screens, with OLED displays available on selected aircraft and cabin classes.
  • Improved audio: Spatial audio and active noise-cancellation headphones on applicable aircraft and cabins.
  • Bluetooth pairing: Passengers will be able to connect their own compatible headphones to the entertainment system where the feature is available.
  • A redesigned interface: Enhanced search and filtering tools, shortcuts to preferred categories and a mini-player.
  • A wider entertainment library: More than 2,500 entertainment options, including films, television programmes, music and podcasts.
  • Wellness features: A new planner offering sleep and meditation content, breathing exercises and in-seat stretches.

The system is intended to make it easier for passengers to discover content and personalise their entertainment throughout a flight.

When Will the New System Be Available?

Singapore Airlines plans to introduce next-generation KrisWorld progressively on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ultra-long-range aircraft from 2027. The system is also planned for the airline's upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft.

The airline has not said that every aircraft will receive all features at the same time. Screen types, audio options and other functions will vary depending on the aircraft and cabin class.

Passengers should therefore check the aircraft type and available onboard amenities when booking, especially if a particular entertainment feature is important to their journey.

Starlink Connectivity Planned From 2027

The entertainment upgrade will be complemented by a planned rollout of Starlink high-speed connectivity, beginning progressively in early 2027 on selected Singapore Airlines aircraft.

The airline plans to introduce Starlink on its Airbus A380, A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ultra-long-range fleets. The service is intended to support activities such as video streaming, social media, online gaming and work on personal devices.

The rollout will take place progressively, so passengers should not assume that every Singapore Airlines flight will immediately offer the same connectivity experience.

Why This Matters for Long-Haul Travellers

In-flight entertainment and internet access have become increasingly important to passengers, particularly on journeys lasting many hours. Better screens, improved audio and more flexible connectivity can help travellers work, communicate and relax during a flight.

For Singapore Airlines, the investment is part of a wider programme to refresh the passenger experience. The company has also announced updates to its dining options, onboard amenities and cabin products.

The practical benefits will depend on when individual aircraft receive the new equipment and which features are available in each cabin. The planned rollout means that the improvements will not necessarily appear across the entire fleet at once.
