Etihad Airways has launched direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg, opening a new nonstop connection between the United Arab Emirates and the small European country known for its financial sector, historic old town and central location in Europe.
The inaugural flight arrived in Luxembourg on October 21, 2026. The new route makes Etihad the first airline from the Middle East to serve Luxembourg with nonstop flights, according to the airline's official announcement.
Four Weekly Flights Between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg
Etihad is operating the new route four times a week using the Airbus A321LR. The service gives travellers a direct link between Luxembourg Airport and Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi.
For passengers travelling from Luxembourg and neighbouring areas of Belgium, France and Germany, the route provides another option for reaching the UAE without a connecting flight. Travellers departing from Abu Dhabi can also use the service to access Luxembourg and the wider region.
A Premium Three-Class Airbus A321LR
The route is operated by Etihad's Airbus A321LR, configured with three cabin classes. According to the airline, the aircraft features two First Suites, 14 Business seats and 144 Economy seats.
The First and Business cabins offer seats that convert into fully flat beds, while Economy passengers have personal entertainment screens. The aircraft also offers high-speed Wi-Fi across its cabins, according to Etihad.
Connections Beyond Abu Dhabi
The new service is designed to offer more than a direct link between Luxembourg and the UAE. Passengers arriving in Abu Dhabi can connect to destinations across Etihad's wider network, including cities in Asia, Australia and the Indian subcontinent, subject to schedules and ticket availability.
For travellers from Luxembourg, this could provide an alternative itinerary for reaching destinations such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney and Colombo. Passengers should check connection times and confirm that their chosen flights are available on the same booking.
What Travellers Can Explore
Abu Dhabi offers visitors attractions including Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi and the entertainment destinations on Yas Island. The city also provides access to beaches, desert landscapes and cultural sites.
Luxembourg offers a different travel experience, with a UNESCO-listed historic centre, medieval fortifications, the Bock casemates and the scenic Grund district. Its location also makes it possible to explore nearby parts of France, Belgium and Germany.
How to Book the New Route
Travellers can check the latest schedules, fares and ticket conditions on the official Etihad Airways website. Flight frequencies and departure times may vary, so passengers should confirm their travel dates before booking.
