FlyDirect has expanded its seasonal programme of direct flights between Jersey and Tenerife for winter 2026–2027, introducing airBaltic as its operating airline. The services will use Airbus A220-300 aircraft equipped with free Starlink Wi-Fi, offering Channel Islands travellers another option for winter holidays in the Canary Islands.
The programme covers school half-term holidays, the Christmas and New Year period, the February break and Easter. The expanded schedule follows strong demand for direct winter-sun flights from Jersey and neighbouring Guernsey.
The new airline partnership was announced by C. I. Travel Group, the company behind FlyDirect, with the first airBaltic aircraft scheduled to arrive in Jersey on October 24, 2026.
Airbus A220-300 to Operate the Seasonal Flights
The flights will be operated by airBaltic using its Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The aircraft has a five-abreast seating arrangement, with two seats on one side of the aisle and three on the other.
According to C. I. Travel Group, the aircraft offers passengers additional comfort, with a 23kg checked baggage allowance included in the advertised programme and no extra charge for sports equipment under the stated offer conditions.
The direct journey from Jersey to Tenerife South Airport takes approximately four hours, avoiding the need for a connecting flight through a larger airport.
Free Starlink Wi-Fi On Board
One of the main features of the new partnership is free onboard Starlink internet connectivity.
airBaltic has introduced Starlink across its aircraft fleet, allowing passengers to access high-speed internet while flying. The service can support online browsing, messaging and streaming, subject to onboard availability and the provider's service conditions.
The introduction of Starlink on the Jersey–Tenerife programme gives passengers a connectivity option that is not yet available on every short- and medium-haul flight operated by other airlines.
An Extended Winter and Easter Schedule
FlyDirect is offering an extended programme of departures across the 2026–2027 holiday season. The flights are arranged around key travel periods rather than representing a conventional year-round scheduled service.
The programme includes:
- October school half-term holidays.
- Christmas and New Year travel.
- February half-term holidays.
- Easter holiday departures from Jersey.
The wider Channel Islands programme includes more than 30 departure dates from Jersey and Guernsey combined. Jersey departures are planned primarily for Saturdays, while Guernsey services are scheduled for Mondays.
Passengers should consult FlyDirect's current calendar to confirm the precise departure dates, availability and return options before booking.
Tenerife Remains a Popular Winter-Sun Destination
Tenerife, the largest of Spain's Canary Islands, attracts visitors throughout the winter thanks to its mild climate, beaches, volcanic landscapes and resort towns.
Tenerife South Airport serves popular holiday areas including Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos. The direct service from Jersey offers travellers a convenient alternative to itineraries involving a connection in mainland Europe or the United Kingdom.
FlyDirect offers both flight-only bookings and package holidays, with seven- and 14-night stays available on selected dates. Longer stays and one-way options may also be available on some departures.
What Travellers Should Know
The expanded programme is seasonal, so passengers should not assume that flights operate every week throughout the entire winter. Services are concentrated around selected holiday periods, with schedules subject to change.
Travellers should check the current flight calendar, baggage conditions and package details directly with FlyDirect. The operator also states that its customers benefit from financial protection through its ABTOT and ATOL arrangements, subject to the relevant booking terms.
