GAYA, India, October 26, 2026 — Indian airline IndiGo has launched a new nonstop service connecting Gaya, in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, with Bangkok, Thailand, opening a direct international route for travellers between the two destinations.
The twice-weekly service begins on October 26 and operates on Mondays and Thursdays, according to the airline's announcement dated August 24, 2026. The new connection is expected to make travel more convenient for tourists, business travellers and Buddhist pilgrims visiting destinations in India and Thailand.
Gaya–Bangkok Flight Schedule
IndiGo has published the following schedule for the new route. All departure and arrival times are local, and the airline notes that schedules remain subject to regulatory approvals.
| Flight | Route | Departure | Arrival | Operating days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6E 1083 | Gaya–Bangkok | 13:15 | 17:50 | Monday, Thursday |
| 6E 1084 | Bangkok–Gaya | 10:15 | 12:15 | Monday, Thursday |
Passengers should confirm the latest operating schedule and ticket availability directly with IndiGo before travelling.
A New International Gateway for Bihar
The new route strengthens Gaya's international air links and provides travellers with a direct connection to Bangkok, one of Southeast Asia's major aviation and tourism hubs.
Previously, some passengers travelling between Gaya and Bangkok had to consider connecting itineraries through other Indian cities. The nonstop service offers an additional option and may simplify travel planning for people living in Bihar and surrounding regions.
The route also creates new opportunities for inbound tourism, particularly for visitors from Thailand interested in India's Buddhist heritage.
Buddhist Tourism Could Benefit
Gaya is an important gateway to Bodh Gaya, home to the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site associated with the life of Gautama Buddha.
Thailand also has a strong Buddhist cultural tradition, making the new air link relevant to religious tourism, pilgrimage groups and independent travellers interested in Buddhist heritage.
Improved connectivity could benefit hotels, tour operators, local transport providers and other tourism businesses in the region. The scale of that impact will depend on passenger demand and the continued operation of the route.
IndiGo Continues to Expand Its Thailand Network
The Gaya–Bangkok launch forms part of IndiGo's broader network connecting India with Thailand. In its August announcement, the airline said it operated more than 140 weekly flights between the two countries.
The new service adds another departure point in India, broadening access to Bangkok beyond the larger metropolitan gateways already served by the airline.
For travellers, the practical benefit will depend on ticket prices, the availability of seats and how the flight times fit with onward journeys from Bangkok.
How to Book the New Flights
Travellers can check schedules and book tickets through IndiGo's official website, mobile application or authorised travel partners.
Before booking, passengers should verify the applicable baggage allowance, fare conditions, entry requirements for Thailand or India, and any changes to the published schedule.

What the New Route Means for Travellers
The launch of direct Gaya–Bangkok flights gives passengers another way to travel between eastern India and Thailand while strengthening air links between two destinations with significant Buddhist heritage.
The route's long-term success will depend on demand, pricing and operational reliability. For now, the new service represents an additional international travel option for tourists and pilgrims travelling between Bihar and the Thai capital.
