Air Canada and United Airlines Plan New Routes for Summer 2027
By Flight Travel News | October 17, 2026
Air Canada and United Airlines are expanding their Canada–United States network with new routes and additional flights planned for summer 2027.
The announcement, made on October 16, includes three new nonstop routes from Canadian cities, alongside additional services from United Airlines. The expansion aims to give travelers more options for trips between Canada and the United States.
Air Canada Announces Three New Routes
Air Canada plans to launch new nonstop services connecting Toronto with Louisville, Montreal with Indianapolis, and Edmonton with Newark.
The Toronto–Louisville service is scheduled to begin on April 28, 2027, initially operating up to daily and increasing to daily service in May.
The Montreal–Indianapolis route is scheduled to start on June 1, 2027, with daily flights planned through September 30.
Flights between Edmonton and Newark are scheduled to begin on June 1, 2027, operating four times a week through October 17. The route will provide a direct link between Alberta and the New York metropolitan area.
Air Canada also plans to increase capacity between Edmonton and San Francisco by using larger Airbus A220 aircraft on the route.
United Airlines Adds More Canadian Connections
United Airlines plans to introduce seasonal service between Newark and St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The airline will also add services connecting Denver with Ottawa and Quebec City.
Additional changes include more flights between Washington, D.C., and Quebec City, as well as a planned 65% increase in daily seat capacity between Denver and Winnipeg.
What Does This Mean for Travelers?
The new services could make some journeys more convenient by providing additional nonstop options and connections through major airline hubs. They may be particularly useful for business travelers, tourists and passengers visiting family and friends.
However, the expansion does not guarantee lower ticket prices. Airfares will depend on demand, competition, travel dates and seat availability.
Travelers should check the airlines' official websites for confirmed schedules, fares, baggage rules and booking availability before making travel plans.
Partnership Still Requires Regulatory Approval
Air Canada and United Airlines have also agreed to renew and expand their transborder joint business agreement. The proposed updated agreement remains subject to the necessary regulatory approvals in Canada.
