Qatar Airways is expanding its global network for the 2026–2027 winter season, with services covering more than 170 destinations across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East.

The airline's published winter schedule includes additional frequencies on several international routes and the resumption of selected services. The changes are designed to give travellers more options when connecting through Hamad International Airport in Doha.

Key Winter Schedule Changes

  • Zanzibar, Tanzania: Daily flights scheduled to resume on October 25, 2026.
  • Montreal, Canada: Services scheduled to increase from five to seven flights per week from October 25.
  • Phuket, Thailand: Services scheduled to increase from 14 to 21 flights per week from October 25.
  • Male, Maldives: Services scheduled to increase from 12 to 21 flights per week from October 25.
  • Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Service expansion planned from November 7, including the return of four weekly nonstop Doha–Ho Chi Minh City flights.
  • Canberra, Australia: Daily service via Melbourne scheduled to resume on December 9.

More Flights to Africa

Africa is among the regions included in Qatar Airways' winter expansion. The airline plans to resume daily flights to Zanzibar on October 25, improving access to the Tanzanian island destination through Doha.

The airline has also announced plans to increase Johannesburg services to 18 flights per week from December 2, 2026. Seychelles services are scheduled to increase from four to seven flights per week from March 1, 2027.

These changes could provide more scheduling choices for travellers visiting Africa for holidays, business or family trips. Passengers should check the operating dates and available connections for their individual journeys.

Asia-Pacific: More Options for Holiday Destinations

Qatar Airways is also increasing services to popular destinations in Asia-Pacific. Phuket in Thailand and Male in the Maldives are both scheduled to receive 21 weekly flights from October 25, 2026.

Vietnam will see additional services as well. From November 7, the airline plans to increase its Ho Chi Minh City operation and reintroduce four weekly nonstop flights between Doha and the Vietnamese city.

For travellers planning winter holidays, the changes may offer more departure-time options and additional opportunities to connect through Doha. However, the best itinerary will depend on the origin city, travel dates and available seats.

Australia: Canberra Returns to the Network

Qatar Airways plans to resume daily flights to Canberra on December 9, 2026, routing the service through Melbourne. The airline also plans to increase its Melbourne operation from seven to 14 weekly flights on the same date.

The Canberra service is expected to reconnect Australia's capital with Qatar Airways' wider international network. Travellers should note that the announced service operates via Melbourne rather than as a nonstop Doha–Canberra flight.

More Capacity to Canada and Europe

In North America, Qatar Airways plans to increase Montreal services from five to seven weekly flights beginning October 25, 2026. The airline says the additional capacity is intended to respond to demand for travel between Canada, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent.

In Europe, the winter schedule includes an increase in London Heathrow services from 49 to 56 weekly flights from October 25. Frankfurt services are scheduled to increase from 18 to 21 weekly flights from December 7.

Passengers should consult the latest published timetable before making plans, as seasonal schedules and flight frequencies can change.

What Does the Expansion Mean for Travellers?

A larger network and additional weekly flights can give passengers more flexibility when planning international journeys. Travellers may find more departure options, improved connections or alternative dates for reaching their destination.

However, an increase in flight frequency does not necessarily mean lower ticket prices. Fares depend on demand, travel dates, cabin class, baggage rules and availability. Passengers should compare the complete itinerary rather than focusing only on the advertised fare.

  • Review baggage allowances and ticket-change conditions.
  • Check visa and transit requirements for your nationality and itinerary.
